FOX Entertainment’s restructuring sees new appointments and expanding responsibilities. By Ching Wai.
US - Moving forward, FOX Entertainment will have three primary business segments: FOX Entertainment Studios, FOX Television Network, and FOX Entertainment Global. This restructuring saw the promotion of Fernando Szew and Michael Thorn to head of FOX Entertainment Studios and president of FOX Television Network respectively. Szew and Thorn will report to FOX Entertainment CEO Rob Wade.
“Under this new structure, every division of FOX Entertainment is now poised for growth and creative excellence as we super-serve our audiences everywhere. Now, the work begins,” said Wade of the restructuring.
FOX Entertainment Studios consolidates all of its studio business engines globally, including the animation studio Bento Box Entertainment, FOX Alternative Entertainment (FAE), FOX scripted studios, MarVista Entertainment, Studio Ramsay Global, and studio TMZ. Its new head, Szew, was the founding partner and CEO of MarVista Entertainment and FOX Entertainment Global.
Thorn had been the president of scripted programming for FOX Entertainment, and will now manage the network’s scripted, unscripted and casting teams. Thorn will also continue his involvement in FOX’s animated properties, as well as his membership of the Bento Box Entertainment Steering Committee.
The company’s restructuring sees Allison Wallach expanding responsibilities as well. Joining Szew’s team as the head of global unscripted programming for FOX Entertainment Studios, Wallach will lead all creative and production. This includes new global formats owned and produced by FAE like Beat My Mini-Mes, Marriage Market and Celebrity Masterpiece.
With the restructuring, FOX Entertainment’s worldwide content sales unit, FOX Entertainment Global (FEG) will be led temporarily by FEG executive vice president Tony Vassiliadis, who also reports to Wade. Vassiliadis will take on a new senior role at FOX Entertainment after a new leader for FEG is named.
News of the restructuring comes just as FOX Entertainment Global showcased new programmes at this year’s MIPTV.
