Superights and Cartoon Saloon Partner to Distribute Silly Sundays

Superights will handle the international distribution of the new children’s series Silly Sundays, starting from MIPTV on 8-10 April 2024. By Ching Wai.

France - Superights will be distributing the new animated comedy series Silly Sundays internationally. The global distributor will be responsible for the international publicity of the (groundbreaking)  series, starting from MIPTV from 8 to 10 April this year. The series was pre-sold to RTEJr in Ireland and premiered on 2 July last year. It was also acquired by Warner Bros. Discovery, and is currently shown on Cartoonito and Maxx/HBO Max in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and the U.S.

With 78 episodes, 7 minutes each, the animation is targeted to upper-preschoolers and centres around the theme of family. Each episode follows three children, Sonia, Hugo, and Mel, and their parents and Granny as they spend time together as family and with friends.

Silly Sundays was created by Nuria Gonzalez Blanco and produced by Irish producer Cartoon Saloon, a long-term partner of Superights. Cartoon Saloon had previously won Emmy and BAFTA awards, and was nominated 5 times at the Oscars.

Superights’ Deputy General Manager, Nathalie Pinguet, said, “It’s a real pleasure to finally welcome Silly Sundays to our catalogue. Its highly original graphic style and the quality of its writing make it a delightful series that makes you want to spend your Sundays by the sea with your family! We are going to complete the work started by Cartoon Saloon and export the series around the globe.”

Cartoon Saloon’s Managing Director, Gerry Shirren, said, “we are delighted to once again to partner with the Superights team and really excited to see the market launch of Silly Sundays at MIPTV. Silly Sundays … made its now acclaimed pitch at Cartoon Forum that wowed the audiences there and now we hope will find the same excitement with broadcasters and audiences around the world joining those that are already watching on RTE and Cartoonito and MAX.”
