South Korea - 53-year-old Korean-American actor Ma Dong-seok has announced a surprise wedding ceremony with his wife, 35-year-old model Ye Jung Hwa, three years after their marriage was first registered in 2021.

The news was confirmed by a representative of the couple’s agency Big Punch Entertainment, in a statement to News1 which read: “The couple will be getting married in May. The wedding will be held in a quiet private ceremony.”

Ma Dong Seok, who also goes by Don Lee, first revealed he was dating the model and influencer in 2016. Though their marriage was first registered in 2021, the wedding was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their marriage was first revealed in October 2022 during the 12th SACF Artist of the Year Awards, when Ma Dong-seok referred to Ye Jung-hwa as his wife during an acceptance speech when he won the Film Artist Award for his 2022 film The Roundup.

“I send my love to my biggest supporter and wife Ye Jung-hwa as well as my family,” the actor said at the time.

Best known for his roles in the South Korean zombie thriller Train to Busan (2016) as well as Marvel Studios’ Eternals (2021), Ma Dong-seok will next star in the action crime film The Roundup: Punishment, which opens on April 24 in South Korea and May 1 in Singapore. His wife Ye Jung-hwa started her career as a model and has also appeared in a cameo role in the 2018 film The Soul-Mate which Ma Dong-seok leads.
