12th Singapore Chinese Film Festival to Screen 45 Films

Singapore - The 12th Singapore Chinese Film Festival will take place from April 26 to May 5 2024, featuring 36 screenings of 45 films including feature films, documentaries and short films.


The festival will open with Fly Me to the Moon, the Hong Kong feature film of Sasha Chuk that stars Wu Kang-ren, Sasha Chuk and Tse Wing-yan. As for the closing film, Painted Faces is a Hong Kong biographical drama film starring Sammo Hung, and over 10 invited filmmakers will attend post-screening Questions-And-Answers sessions in person.


Films in the festival will be categorised into six major sections: Chinese Panorama with 18 feature films, Documentary Vision with 4 documentaries, Chinese Shorts Showcase with 13 short films, The Long Take with 2 feature films, Restored Classics with 3 films, and last but not least, Filmmaker in Focus: Sammo Hung with 5 films, which will see Sammo Hung recount his journey in the film industry in front of a live audience in a masterclass that’s part of AFAA’s Masterclass series. 

On top of that, on April 28, a panel discussion with Sasha Chuk (Fly Me to the Moon), Chin Chia-hua (Trouble Girl), Jin Ong (Abang Adik) and Yan Xiaolin (Carp Leaping over Dragon’s Gate) titled “Home is Where the Heart is: Chinese Family Drama” will be held, which will see the panellists discuss the topic with audiences.


Screenings for the 12th Singapore Chinese Film Festival will be held at Golden Village Bugis+, Golden Village Funan and Golden Village Suntec City from April 26 to May 5, with advance ticket sales starting from April 11 at all Golden Village box offices and the Golden Village website http://www.gv.com.sg/ . Additionally, admission to Festival Forum is free with registration on https://scff.peatix.com .
