CinemaCon 2024 Announcements: Monopoly Movie with Margot Robbie, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, M3GAN 2 and More!

Plenty of announcements were made at the recent CinemaCon 2024, with a Monopoly movie produced by Margot Robbie, as well as sequels to M3GAN and Five Nights at Freddy’s being highlights. By: Kritchanon Tan Kian Wei.

US - The recent 2024 CinemaCon event in Las Vegas brought about countless announcements, including a Monopoly movie with Margot Robbie producing, and sequels to M3GAN and Five Nights at Freddy’s being revealed and dated for 2025.


A movie based on the classic Hasbro board game Monopoly was announced by Lionsgate, with Hasbro Entertainment, Margot Robbie’s company LuckyChap and her partners Tom Ackerley and Josie McNamara set to produce alongside Lionsgate. Not much else is known about the film. 


Henry Cavill, who is best known for playing Superman in the soon-to-be-rebooted DC Extended Universe, also appeared at the Lionsgate panel, teasing two upcoming films: The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which opens next week, as well as the newly-announced thriller In the Grey, currently set for January 2025.

Speaking of Superman, director James Gunn, who is set to oversee the DC film universe reboot and direct Superman (2025) starring David Corenswet, also revealed the film’s Superman logo in a video message during the event. Superman will fly into US theatres July 11 2025.


Meanwhile, Universal Pictures revealed that sequels to the horror flicks M3GAN and Five Nights at Freddy’s were both getting sequels in 2025, with the latter being set for Fall 2025. Wolf Man, a monster film directed by Leigh Whannel, was also delayed from October 25 2024 to January 17 2025, while the thriller The Woman in the Yard has been delayed indefinitely.


Finally, Crunchyroll’s first-ever CinemaCon presentation revealed several new acquisitions, releases and trailers. During the event, the company revealed their acquisitions of Blue Lock The Movie – Episode Nagi, Overlord – The Sacred Kingdom, as well as HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle, which will hit US theatres on May 31.
