Stunning Asian Celebrities known for not Aging

Many Asian celebrity actors have spent decades in the industry, working tirelessly to produce endless entertaining dramas and films for our leisure. Yet, some of them have still maintained their youthful looks from their early days. By: Dylan Low

Celebrities are constantly in the public eye, they are always under pressure to look perfect and attractive. These age-defying Asian stars may work with professionals such as hairstylists, makeup artists and fitness instructors to help them look their best, but they also work hard to maintain their youthful looks by eating well and keeping fit in despite of their older age.

Ray Lui (66 years old)

The Hong Kong celebrity is best noted for his acting role in mainstream TVB drama The Bund, portraying the role of “Ting Lik”. Continuing his role in two sequels (The Bund II and III) in the 1980s, he also starred in several main roles in other TVB dramas where he then left TVB afterwards in 1989 to pursue an acting career in China. Lui made his return to TVB in 2009, taking up the role of “Marcus Cheuk” in TVB drama Born Rich.

Lui made headlines in 2021, where he was seen side by side with a 62-year-old man at a nursing home and calling him “uncle”. It turns out Lui was 64 and 2 years older than him at the time, sparking unbelievable reactions on social media.

The famous actor shared that his youthful appearance was based on maintaining a healthy diet, and an exercise regimen he calls “da mo hui chun quan”. For context, Da Mo is a Buddhist monk who lived in the 5th century, while “hui chun” is defined by return to youth.

Angie Chiu (68 years old)

The famous Hong Kong actress and the third runner-up as 1973’s Miss Hong Kong Pageant, Angie Chiu is also noted for her acting in The Bund, alongside popular names such as Ray Lui and Chow Yun Fat. Chiu has become popular not only in Hong Kong, but Taiwan, Macau and Mainland China as well.

In a similar situation as Ray Lui, Angie Chiu had visited an old folk’s home where she met an elderly lady and went on a stroll with her. To Angie’s surprise, she found out she was three years older than the elderly lady, despite the latter looking older.

Billed as the ‘ultimate age-defying goddess’, she credits her appearance to her daily lifestyle, where she says maintaining sufficient rest and a nutritional diet plays a key role in staying young and beautiful.

“No matter how late I go to bed, I will make sure that I sleep for eight to 10 hours,' she told the press.

Chiu also disclosed that she attempts to keep her meals light, including a glass of juice every morning and a bowl of soup for her evening meals.

She added that she enjoys eating rice, especially noodles in particular, and would restrict consuming more food when she feels at 70 percent full, which helps her maintain a thin figure.

Andy Lau (62 years old)

Known as one of Hong Kong’s most commercially successful film actors since the1980s, Andy Lau has also earned a reputation as a singer, lyricist and film producer. He has featured in up to 160 films, taking steps progressing in his singing career simultaneously. He was declared as one of Four Heavenly Kings of Cantopop and commonly known as a young yet popular male lead actor.

The key reasons to how Lau maintain his youthful figure is his diet and exercise routine. He works out by doing weighted curls and stretches every day and having proper sleeping habits - by waking up at 8am and sleeping at 11pm consistently.

He maintains a healthy diet, with a heavy breakfast that consists of both grains and proteins, and low-calorie meals for his lunches and dinners. Lau is selective with his drinking options, having black coffee which helps to reduce cardiovascular diseases and remove toxins, harmful bacteria while improving blood circulation. He also likes organic juices, known to be nutritional to one’s health with good vitamins.
