This solo film in the DC universe features The Flash as the lone main character, as he discovers more about his powers to travel through time. As he battles the dilemma of saving his mom in the past, his decision haunts him as he battles familiar enemies with the help of new yet memorable allies.
The sentimental film over-delivers in terms of interactions involving comedy, heart and oftentimes, emotion. These were all conveyed beautifully by the characters, who make up a prominent aspect of the film. Ezra Miller put on a tremendous performance as Barry Allen, perfectly showcasing features of his personality such as his natural awkwardness and good-hearted honesty to an extent. His standalone film performance certainly explains why the DC Universe had to cast him as the speedy superhero once again.
The Flash also consists of amazing fan-service and easter eggs which many fans of DC comics can relate to and appeal towards. The highly acclaimed Michael Keaton makes his return as Batman, which he portrayed back in 1989 and 1992 in Batman and Batman Returns respectively, that will undeniably get all the hardcore DC franchise enthusiasts hyped and help boost show ratings.
The adventure motion picture additionally adds a new Supergirl to the mix, played by Sasha Calle, as all the superheroes form a team to battle an old opponent in General Zod, who featured in Man of Steel.
As the movie centres around excitable feelings and humour between the superheroes, it offers a refreshing perspective compared to other films which place more emphasis on CGI quality and fight choreography.
The Flash stands out as a relatable feature film with viewers relating to the emotions that the main characters feel, alongside the dilemmas that they face and choices they have to make.
