Description
In Dune: Part Two, Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) unites with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen to seek revenge against House Harkonnen, which destroyed his family and killed his father Leto Atreides (played by Oscar Isaac in Dune: Part One).
Praised by many to be one of the greatest science fiction films of all time (alongside its predecessor) Dune: Part Two is an excellent movie throughout, from its brilliant cinematography and dramatic tension, to its intensive action and memorable score composed by Hans Zimmer.
Naturally, the film picks up where Dune: Part One left off, with Paul meeting Chani. Though director Denis Villeneuve intended Dune: Part Two to be able to stand on its own, the film’s predecessor feels almost like required viewing, as it sets the context for everything that happens in Dune: Part Two. It’s worth noting that the film duology features a lot of world-building and complex relationships, meaning that several viewings or a familiarity with the source material may be required to fully comprehend the plot of Dune. This also makes Dune: Part Two a less easily approachable film, and younger viewers may not fully appreciate or enjoy what is on screen.
However, if you’re a fan of the Dune franchise or simply love rich and layered storytelling, Dune: Part Two is undoubtedly a well-crafted film, as many critics and moviegoers will tell you.
