Korean Mystery Series 'Mask Girl' Unveiled with Thrilling Trailer
Netflix recently unveiled the latest trailer for the upcoming Korean mystery-thriller series, "Mask Girl," along with key details about the cast. By: Syahmi Zulqarnain
The series centres around Kim Mo-mi, an unassuming office worker whose life takes a dramatic turn when she becomes a masked online model, simply called Mask Girl. As her popularity soars, she finds herself descending into a dark place, earning the moniker "Prisoner #1047." In a surprising twist, Mo-mi appears repentant, and starts a carefully crafted plan for escape.
Notably, the character of Kim Mo-mi will be portrayed by three different actors, adding depth and complexity to her arc. The talented ensemble includes Ko Hyun-jang, Nana, and a yet-to-be-revealed newcomer, each bringing their unique touch to the mysterious protagonist.
The supporting cast includes Ahn Jae-hong as a curious office worker who unravels the secret behind Mask Girl's true identity, and Yeom Hye-ran, who portrays a determined mother desperately searching for her missing son.
Mask Girl is written and directed by Kim Yong-Hoon, who skilfully weaves the tale of these "injured, marginalised individuals" amidst a compelling murder mystery.
Scheduled to premiere on August 18th, the series marks another addition to Netflix's impressive array of Korean content. Alongside the reveal of Mask Girl, Netflix has also revealed its commitment to investing $2.5 billion in Korean productions over the next four years, showcasing its dedication to catering to a diverse audience and solidifying its position as a major player in the Asian streaming market.
