New Heads to lead Hasbro Entertainment Content Studio

A fresh leadership team has been appointed to take the reins at Hasbro’s newly launched entertainment content studio, which seeks to unify film, TV, animation, and digital media production in its operations. By: Theng Min Yee

Prominent toy manufacturer Hasbro has enlisted a trio of former Entertainment One (eOne) executives to steer its newly launched Hasbro Entertainment content studio towards creative horizons. The newly established division is set to encompass a wide spectrum of media production, including film, television, animation, and digital content. Olivier Dumont will take the reins as president of Hasbro Entertainment, while Zev Foreman and Gabriel Marano will respectively head the film and television arms of the division.

This strategic move comes hot on the heels of Hasbro's strategic decision to sell eOne to Lionsgate for approximately $500 million. The motivation behind this manoeuvre is to enable Hasbro to concentrate its efforts on nurturing its branded properties, such as Peppa Pig, Transformers, and Dungeons & Dragons. This strategic shift underscores Hasbro's ambition to transform into a leading player within the digital gaming realm.

Tim Kilpin, president of Toys, Licensing, and Entertainment at Hasbro, emphasized the central role of entertainment in Hasbro's strategy. He stated, "Audiences can count on Hasbro to keep creating compelling and fun entertainment that brings to life our wide array of iconic brands, including Peppa Pig, My Little Pony, and Transformers."

Hasbro's recent cinematic endeavours, such as the Transformers instalment Rise of the Beasts and the previous title Dungeons & Dragons, have amassed global box-office successes. Upcoming projects include Transformers One, featuring the voices of Scarlett Johansson and Jon Hamm, as well as a Dungeons & Dragons series for Paramount+.

Olivier Dumont expressed excitement about the new chapter, emphasising the legacy of storytelling that Hasbro has upheld. He remarked, "Gabe, Zev, and I look forward to working with the industry’s best creative talent, studios, and distribution platforms to push the envelope with innovative storytelling that will let fans engage with their favourite brands like never before, while also building exciting new worlds and the next wave of Hasbro franchises for a growing audience."
