Warner Bros. Discovery and Unifi Expand Partnership in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA — In a significant development for entertainment enthusiasts in Malaysia, Warner Bros. Discovery and Unifi have announced an expansion of their partnership. This expansion brings the launch of four HBO channels and introduces the HBO GO streaming service to Malaysian audiences.

Starting from September 1, 2023, Unifi TV subscribers will gain access to a quartet of premium HBO channels: HBO, HBO Family, HBO Hits, and Cinemax. These channels will provide viewers with an extensive array of globally acclaimed TV series and movies. To celebrate this exciting addition, all Unifi TV Pack subscribers can indulge in a 30-day free preview throughout September.

The partnership between Warner Bros. Discovery and Unifi has been gathering momentum, with the recent inclusion of HGTV and Cartoon Network on Unifi TV in August. This move further reinforces Warner Bros. Discovery's (WBD) presence in the region, with the company now offering nine of its channels, complemented by the upcoming regional streaming service, HBO GO, set to be available from October.

Shonali Bedi, Head of Affiliate Distribution & Digital Partnerships – Southeast Asia & Hong Kong at Warner Bros. Discovery, noted that the addition of HBO channels on Unifi TV and HBO GO will significantly enhance the accessibility of HBO's premium entertainment to Malaysian fans.

Anand Vijayan, Unifi's Executive Vice President, emphasised the collaboration's importance in broadening international channel selections for Unifi TV customers. With the introduction of these movie channels, Unifi TV will now offer a comprehensive lineup of 77 channels. This expansion seeks to enhance online content and entertainment options, ensuring affordability for all Malaysians. As a gesture of gratitude to loyal customers, Unifi TV Pack subscribers will enjoy a 30-day free preview of the new HBO channels starting from September 1.

Unifi TV subscribers can now access the latest hit titles, including the highly anticipated second season of Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, HBO Asia Original MarkKim + Chef, and new movie premieres in September, such as Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Tár, and Dungeon & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Starting October, Unifi TV subscribers will have the added privilege of enjoying HBO GO, offering unparalleled streaming access to DC series and movies, HBO Originals, Wizarding World content, Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and much more across multiple devices.
