Slow Horses, the trending Apple TV+ series referenced on Mick Herron’s spy series with the same name, has been renewed for a fifth season. By: Dylan Low
Oldman, who was recently achieved a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the show as the ill-tempered Jackson Lamb, reprises his role joined with Kristin Scott Thomas, who plays as MI5 second desk Diana Taverner, Jack Lowden as spy nepo baby River Cartwright and Christopher Chung as the cocky geek Roddy Ho.
“Everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected,” Season 5’s logline mentions. “After all, Jackson Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, ‘London Rules’ should always apply.”
Season 5 is slated to take inspiration from the fifth instalment in Herron’s book series, “London Rules.” The director role has yet to be confirmed.
Slow Horses, noted to be Apple’s darkly comic espionage drama, first debuted on the streaming service back in 2022 and has gained traction to become one of its most popular shows. The series showcases a dysfunctional group of British intelligence agents who, for different career-ending reasons, have been placed in Slough House – giving them the nickname Slow Horses.
The team is spearheaded by a dishevelled and flatulent Lamb, are often exploited by their glossy counterparts at Regents Park and yet some way still manages to save the situation.
The long-awaited Season 3 finale was released on December 27th last year.
Slow Horses is adapted for television by Will Smith and made by production company See-Saw Films for the Apple TV+ platform. Will Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Julian Stevens and Graham Yost are the executive producers for the series.
