The NSFC is composed of more than 60 critics from global outlets nationwide, who have identified the impeccable attainments across categories, highlighting the diverse talents that graced the cinematic landscape in the past year.
The accolades awarded were not limited to one standout film as May December and The Zone of Interest has each attained two awards. May December received acclaim for its screenplay and the beautiful supporting performance by Charles Melton, whereas The Zone of Interest witnessed Jonathan Glazer as the Best Director and Sandra Hüller as the Best Actress for her roles in both The Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a Fall.
The Best Actor title was awarded to Andrew Scott from All of Us Strangers where the Best Supporting Actress was received by Da’Vine Joy Randolph of The Holdovers. Killers of the Flower Moon by Rodrigo Prieto has earned the Best Cinematography award.
Established in 1966, the NSFC had presented multiple organisations with film heritage awards and had acknowledged the Criterion channel, Facets, Kim’s Video, Scarecrow Video, and Vidiots for their contributions to preserving and promoting cinematic history.
Votes are amassed through a weighted ballot system as NSFC members vote for the best in each category. Any films that are released in U.S. theatres or on streaming platforms in 2023 are eligible for consideration.
