Sky Sports has Rights for 2024 Africa Cup of Nations

The sports platform will be broadcasting Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in the UK, from January 13th onwards. By: Dylan Low

As part of an agreement with Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), the UK pay TV operator will be live telecasting every game of AFCON’s 34th edition, inclusive of the final that takes place on February 11th.

AFCON matches will be available to watch on Sky Sports Football or Sky Sports Mix, and will also be live streamed via NOW.

Sky Sports also previously covered all 52 games from AFCON in 2022, with 10 games screened on free-to-air broadcasting service BBC.            l

Taking place in Ivory Coast, AFCON showcases 24 national teams, consisting of current championship winners Senegal. Current and former Premier League players slated to feature in the competition are Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Cameroon’s Andre Onana, Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus, along with Senegal’s Pape Sarr, Nicolas Jackson and Sadio Mane.

Sports rights agency IMG previously secured the exclusive rights to distribute the international media rights for CAF’s events in 85+ countries from 2023 to 2025. Outside of Middle East and Africa, IMG will oversee the broadcast deals for the next two AFCON tournament editions – the Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023 and the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, including the tournament’s qualifiers.

Sky Sports have stated it will also deliver more AFCON content across its digital and social lplatforms. VodafoneZiggo will also be one of the brands providing coverage of AFCON.
