Jonathan Majors Removed from Rodman Film Following Assault Conviction

Underfired Hollywood film actor Jonathan Majors has been dropped from an upcoming film role following news of his latest assault conviction. By: Dylan Low

Majors will no longer be playing the role as controversial basketball player Dennis Rodman in a film biopic titled 48 Hours In Vegas, reported and confirmed by news sources.

The film entails the true backstory of the controversial Bulls’ power forward’s notorious travel to Las Vegas, which took place midway through of the 1998 NBA finals.

Lionsgate will also not feature in the project, as the studio disclosed news back to the producers to look for a new partner. Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Aditya Sood will be the film producers, joined by Ari Lubet, Will Allegra and Rodman as executive producers. Jordan VanDina, who also worked on Hulu comedy film The Binge, is slated to write the screenplay.

Majors was found guilty on December 18th for two misdemeanour counts of harassment and assault during a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. He is sentenced on February 6th and faces up to one year of jail time, with the possibility of a lesser punishment, like probation.

Sources state Majors could no longer be involved in discussions for the studio’s development project Da Understudy, which Spike Lee had been in early discussions to direct. Marvel Studios also fired Majors from future projects on the day he was convicted.

After the conviction, Majors released a statement regarding the case on Good Morning America, stating, “I’m standing there and the verdict comes down. I say, ‘How is that possible?’ Based off the evidence — based off the prosecution’s evidence, let alone our evidence — how is that possible?”
