Paramount+ Pulls the Plug on Wolf Pack After One Season

Despite high expectations, the cancellation decision was driven by delays attributed to last year's writers and actors' strikes, making a second season unfeasible until 2025. By: Wee Yan Ling

Paramount+ has officially cancelled the supernatural drama series Wolf Pack after its first season. Sources revealed that the decision was derived from challenges due to the writers and actors strikes last year which caused a monumental delay that would have pushed the release of a second season into 2025.

The streaming platform displayed interest in resuming the series, however, the long hiatus would have necessitated increased marketing efforts to draw the attention of viewers. This led to a financial challenge for Paramount+ which led to the termination of the series.

Wolf Pack was packed with aspiring goals as the movie was launched following the series on the streaming platform. Based on the novels by Evo van Belkom, the series tells the tale of two teenagers whose lives take a supernatural turn after a wildfire releases a terrifying creature. Author Edo van Belkom had communicated his exasperation regarding the year long delay in the official announcement of the cancellation.

Notably, Wolf Pack marked Gellar’s comeback to live-action TV with her first being a cameo in CBS’ The Big Bang Theory in 2019. The actress is renowned for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, had last held a regular series role in CBS comedy, The Crazy Ones' which ran for one season during 2013-14.
