Paramount+
has initiated the production for the eagerly awaited Star Trek: Section 31 movie,
featuring Michelle Yeoh in the lead role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou. Yoeh is
known for originating the character in the first season of the Star Trek:
Discovery as she returns to portray Georgiou’s journey after crossing over
from the Mirror Universe. Her character is tasked with protecting the United
Federation of Planets and confronting the shadows of her own past.
The
film has also put together a stellar cast which encompass Omari Hardwick, Kacy
Rohl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez, and
James Hiroyuki Liao. the executive producer had also displayed his excitement
as principal photography began, welcoming the novel characters to the Star
Trek universe and underscoring the wild adventure that awaits alongside the
beloved Oscar Winner, Michelle Yeoh.
The
film is penned and executive produced by Craig Sweeny with Olatunde Osunsanmi
directing and executive producing. Yeoh also wears the hat of the executive
producer on top of her starring position. The project is also helmed by
executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Aaron Baiers, Rod Rodenberry, Trevor
Roth, Frank Siracusa, and John Weber, with CBS Studios handling production.
This exciting development marks another chapter in the ever-expanding Star
Trek universe.
