The 8th Conecta FICTION & ENTERTAINMENT Heads to Brazil

The 8th edition of Conecta FICTION & ENTERTAINMENT will be held in Toledo from 18-21 June 2024. Preparations for the event are ongoing amidst high expectations for the Brazilian market. By Ching Wai.

Madrid - Conecta FICTION & ENTERTAINMENT is within the top 10 international television events of the audiovisual industry, and exists to connect industry and talent, fiction and entertainment, and Europe and the Americas. Its eighth edition was officially introduced to Brazil, and will be held from 18-21 June this year in Toledo, Castilla-La Mancha. The event is supported by the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha, and in collaboration with the Castilla-La Mancha Film Commission.

According to Conecta, the different international Calls for Projects in the 2024 edition include the PITCH COPRO SERIES for “international co-production projects of series or mini-series for television”; the PITCH HIGH-END SERIES for “high-budget projects with great audience potential and elements that make them especially attractive”; the PITCH MUSIC SERIES for “fiction series projects or mini-series, in which music plays a fundamental role”; the PITCH DOCUDRAMA SERIES for “docudrama series projects, that is, documentary series that include fictional recreations”; and the PITCH FEELGOOD FORMATS for “television format projects with elements of humour or that seek to make the viewer smile”. Applications close on 25 March, 26 March, 27 March, 4 April, and 5 April for the categories respectively.

To present this event, work meetings took place with local institutions in Brazil like ANCINE (Ministry of Culture), the talent support foundations like PROJETO PARADISO, and important industry-leading companies, including HBO Max (now Max), Prime Video, and Disney amongst many others. Brazil has an extensive history of content production, attractive opportunities in project financing, and boasts an internal market exceeding 217 million inhabitants. As can be seen from the already growing number of production companies establishing delegations in third countries, Brazilians are presently most receptive to collaborating with other markets.

Conecta FICTION & ENTERTAINMENT has also announced a new alliance with Content Americas, in which one of the finalists of Conecta 2024 will be given notable visibility before, during, and after Content Americas, as well as exposure at the 2025 Miami event. This is on top of the existing offer by Conecta in collaboration with the Council of Europe, the headquarters of Eurimages, endowed with 50, 000 Euros. With such attractive prizes and all the potential talent and opportunities that Brazil offers, this event can be highly anticipated.
