With the latest Mean Girls movie hitting the theatres, let's take a trip down memory lane and catch up with the original cast members, discovering the paths they’ve taken since their time at North Shore High School. By: Wee Yan Ling
Lindsay
Lohan played the role of the protagonist Cady Heron and had undergone a journey
of fame, legal battles as well as her own struggles after the series. However,
she had managed to make a victorious return in 2022 through Netflix holiday
rom-com Falling for Christmas and followed up with another romantic
comedy, Irish Wish in 2023. She had also entered a new phase in her
personal life as she married financier Bader Shammas and gave birth to her son
Luai in July 2023.
The
formidable Regina George, portrayed by Rachel McAdams has been catapulted to
fame after the series as she went on to act in blockbuster hits such as The
Notebook and Wedding Crashers. She had even attained a nomination
for Spotlight and reprising her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Doctor
Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022. McAdams remains a force in
Hollywood as she went on to star in the film adaptation of Judy Blume’s Are
You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.
Amanda Seyfried is renowned for her hysterical portrayal of Karen Smith and she has bloomed after the Mean Girls series. She thrived in Mamma Mia! And also starred in an Emmy-winning performance as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in The Dropout. Seyfried is versatile during the span of her career as she wears the hat of a Lancôme Ambassadress and a doting mother of two.
Lacey
Chabert who brought Gretchen Wieners to life has continued acting and found a
recurring role as Dr. Amy Shaw on the freeform series Baby Daddy. She
had also starred in more than 30 hallmark movies and worked on voice-over
projects. She has claimed the title of the Queen of Hallmark Holiday Movies.
Lacey and her spouse, David Nehdar in 2016 where she launched her very own line
of clothing under the name of “Lacey Chabert Collection”.
The
mastermind behind Mean Girls, Tina Fey had transitioned from Saturday
Night Live (SNL) to create and star in the acclaimed sitcoms 30 Rock and
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Her journey continues to materialise on
the big screen with films such as Date Night, and Sisters.
The
heartthrob of Mean Girls, Aaron Samuels was portrayed by Jonathan
Bennet. After Mean Girls, he went on to enjoy a successful career
especially in Hallmark Christmas movies. His reprisal of the iconic Aaron in
Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next music video had solidified his foundation
in the hearts of fans. Bennett then continues with his crusade in the world of
entertainment including his recent role in The Plus One.
