Fourth instalment of David Twohy’s space western will largely shoot in Bavaria, as well as Spain and the UK.
David Twohy’s
upcoming film, Riddick 4: Furya, starring Vin Diesel, has secured a
significant funding boost of €2 million from Germany’s FFF Bayern fund. This
funding represents the maximum amount that can be awarded to a single project
by the fund, highlighting the project’s importance and potential impact on the
international film scene.
The film,
which continues the saga of the anti-hero Richard B. Riddick, will see Diesel’s
character return to his home planet, Furya, only to find it under the control
of the brutal Amadak, with a new threat from the Necromongers looming.
Principal photography is set to take place at Penzing Studios in Bavaria, with
additional filming in Spain and the UK.
Riddick 4:
Furya is being
produced by Diesel’s One Race Films in collaboration with Thank You Studios,
with local co-producers including Germany’s Supernix and the UK’s Electric
Shadow Company/28 Limited. The film has already garnered international
interest, with pre-sales to key markets such as Germany and France.
The production team boasts
notable talents, including German cinematographer Stefan Ciupek and UK
production designer Nigel Phelps, known for his work on Batman and Transformers.
This collaboration promises to deliver the intense action and intricate
production design that fans of the franchise have come to expect.
