The Quiz with Balls Travels to Germany

Talpa Studios' quiz show, The Quiz with Balls, is set to entertain the German viewers this summer. RTL Germany has ordered the fun game show that was produced by Cheerio Entertainment at the local production hub in the Netherlands. For the German version, titled Splash, contestants must work together as a team and answer questions, but each wrong answer gets you knocked into a swimming pool by a massive ball.

Germany - Sebastian van Barneveld, Director of Global Distribution at Talpa Studios said, “This format was a breakout surprise hit for SBS6 in the Netherlands in 2023. We're thrilled that it's being picked up in countries like USA, Spain and now Germany. The German celebrity edition promises to add even more excitement and possibilities to the format.”

Last summer, Talpa Studios’ The Quiz with Balls completely turned the tables on prime time. The ratings skyrocketed and SBS6 ordered a four-episode winter special and a second season. The format soon made its way across the pond with a local adaptation in the USA on FOX, where it’s gaining fans each week. The Spanish adaptation Juego de Pelotas for Antena 3 has just been recorded in Talpa Studios’ local production hub in the Netherlands.

This fun game show features five contestants standing on a high platform over a swimming pool, ten exciting quiz questions and six giant balls. In each episode, a team of five friends, family members or colleagues, competes for a cash prize by answering one quiz question after another.

For each question, each team member chooses one of six answer options. The answer options are linked to the balls, which start to roll when all answers are given. If a player stands on a correct answer, the ball stops just in time. If not, the ball will mercilessly knock the player into the pool. Each question has as many correct answers as the number of players left on the platform. In the case of question 1, that means five correct answers and one wrong answer.

With each player falling into the pool, a wrong answer is added to the six answer options of the next question. For each team, the key is to stay as complete as possible for as long as possible since the tenth and final question is worth a huge cash prize.
