The screenplay is based on a 2007 book by journalist Masumi Fukuda called Fabrication: The Truth About The ‘Murder Teacher’ in Fukuoka.
“Sham” explores the moral complexities
of these fabricated allegations and their impact on the individuals involved.
The film is currently in post-production, having completed filming in August
and September, with a Japanese release planned for June next year. Toei
describes the film as a “drama crime thriller” that digs deep into human
morality.
Takashi Miike, known for his prolific career with over
100 film, TV, and video productions, brings his unique directorial style to
this project. His notable works include Audition, Ichi The Killer, and 13
Assassins. Miike has previously been selected for the Cannes Competition
with Hara-Kiri: Death Of A Samurai and Shield Of Straw.
