Former Netflix Executive Appointed Regional Content Director for Sky Showtime

Sky Showtime has announced the appointment of Juan Mayne, a former leader at Netflix, as the Regional Content Director for Iberia. By: Wee Yan Ling

Newly appointed Chief Content Officer at Sky Showtime, Mayne, comes on board the established programming team alongside Edyta Pytlewska-Mele, Regional Content Director for Central and Eastern Europe, and Fredrik Ljungberg, Regional Content Director for Northern Europe, encompassing the Netherlands and the Nordic markets as part of his newly expanded remit.

The responsibilities of the Regional Content Director include leading on content acquisitions and original programming with overall responsibility for productions across the Iberian region.

“I am excited to welcome Juan to the Sky Showtime programming team. He has an impressive track record as a highly successful content lead, so he will be a great addition to our team. He will be a pivotal player in offering expertise and supporting Sky Showtime’s next phase of growth and development of original programming,” said Fink.

Mayne has been in the international entertainment industry for more than two decades, having served as the Director of Content, Co-productions, and Acquisitions at Netflix. He also held the position of Head of Film for Spain during his time at the streaming giant.

During his tenure at Netflix, Mayne took on a vital role of collaborating with AtresMedia to bring popular series such as La casa de papel (Money Heist) to the platform. He was also instrumental in propelling the development of original Spanish films for Netflix. Mayne will be based at Sky Showtime’s Madrid office.
