Oppenheimer Returns to IMAX Theatres After Box Office Triumph

IMAX made the announcement that the Christopher Nolan film will be returning after grossing more than $900 million at the worldwide box office. By: Wee Yan Ling

The movie is set to relaunch its exclusive IMAX screening in November, across IMAX theatres globally, encompassing six of its 70mm screen venues located in Hollywood, San Francisco, Irvine, California, New York, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

IMAX stated that the biopic on Oppenheimer grossed more than $183 million from IMAX screenings, claiming the title as the fourth highest grossing IMAX film of all time. The company has also been propelled to reach its highest grossing summer in 54 countries, with the inclusion of both U.S. and China. 

The major success is widely attributed to the phenomenon of Barbenheimer when both films were released on the same day. This resulted in the best single weekend at the box office of 2023.
