The entertainment world mourns the loss of Suzanne Shepherd, acclaimed for her roles in cinematic classics like Goodfellas and as Carmella Soprano's mother in The Sopranos. By Wee Yan Ling
Suzanne Shepherd was highly revered for her role in Goodfellas and The Sopranos. Shepherd has passed away at the age of 89. She passed on peacefully at her New York City home early Friday morning. Shepherd played many roles, ranging from a successful actress, director, acting teacher to a private coach.
Shepherd’s daughter had revealed that her mother had been battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and the cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
The accomplished actress has made a dent in the entertainment industry since the 1980s and her renowned roles are: Goodfellas, Mystic Pizza, Lolita and Requiem for a Dream. Shepherd had graced the small screen with her portrayals in series such as Law & Order, Blue Bloods, The Sopranos, which had propelled her to fame and recognition.
Isabelle, Shepherd’s granddaughter had paid tribute to her on Instagram sharing that her grandmother "shaped me and my life," and "instilled in me a love of literature and language, and a delight in the beauty this world holds."
