Taiwan's Creative Triumph at ATF Pitches Marks Milestone

Taiwanese projects have shined across many categories at the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF), from scripted fables to real-life comebacks. By: Wee Yan Ling

This is Taiwan’s first time securing spots in all four categories of the ATF pitches and is a milestone marked for the significant leap in the television industry. The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) has presented 252 projects from 100 content creators at its dedicated Taiwan Pavilion.

Two prominent projects, Islander from Triple Film House and The Yani Tseng Story from Selected Entertainment had graced the ATF X Beach House Scripted and Unscripted categories respectively. Islander tells a contemporary fable with a magical realist touch whereas The Yani Tseng Story shares the impeccable comeback of Taiwan’s renowned golfer.

Special Delivery by JUO Studies and MaplessLab features in the ATF IP Accelerator Project Market while Brian from Whatube Studios has taken the spotlight in the ATF X TTB Animation Lab & Pitch.

Homme Tsai, TAICCA's chairperson says that with the revision of the Development of the Cultural and Creative Industries Act and budget injection of the One Plus Four T-Content Plan, more commonly referred to as the "Cultural Kuroshio Current", the development of Taiwan's TV content can welcome the prospect of tripling benefits in subsidy, investment and tax rebate. An industry vibrancy is expected with support from multiple channels. Through ATF's connection to TV and film industries across Asia, Europe, and North America, Taiwan's presence at ATF will give TV content from Taiwan international recognition.

Beyond the ATF Pitches, TAICCA facilitates direct interactions between Taiwanese companies and global attendees as they feature notable works such as Tabloid, You are My Sister, and Imperfect Us. To add on, TAICCA collaborates with ATF to host a Lunch Gathering with Taiwan which fosters exchange between nine established Taiwanese companies and key international buyers.
