Neon Acquires Sydney Sweeney’s Religious Horror Film Immaculate

Acclaimed film studio Neon has claimed North American Rights to Immaculate, a religious horror movie featuring Emmy Award nominee Sydney Sweeney. By: Dylan Low

Sweeney, who has starred in mainstream series such as Euphoria and The White Lotus, also produces the film alongside companies Black Bear and Middle Child Pictures. Neon looks to announce a theatrical release, which remains undecided.

Directed by Michael Mohan and written by Andrew Lobel, Immaculate showcases Cecilia, portrayed by Sweeney, as a woman of devout faith who is given a new position at a distinguished Italian convent. But her introduction to the European countryside turns upside down as Cecilia discovers her new home holds several dark and horrifying secrets.

With principal photography concluding earlier this year, joining Sweeney in the cast are Simona Tabasco, Alvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli and Dora Romano.

Immaculate was produced by Sweeney, Jonathan Davino for Fifty-Fifty Films and Middle Child Pictures’ David Bernad, who expanded on the project with Sweeney after their collaboration together on The White Lotus.

Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler produced for Black Bear, which wholly funded and represented the international sales rights. Black Bear’s John Friedberg and Christopher Casanova were executive producers on the film, joined by Will Greenfield. Immaculate makes for the second latest partnership between Neon and Black Bear after Michael Mann’s Ferrari, which premieres in theatres on Christmas Day.
