Parasite Star Lee Sun-kyun Passes Away at 48

South Korean personage, Lee Sun-Kyun who famously starred in the remarkable 2020 Oscar best picture winner Parasite passed away on Wednesday morning at 48. By: Cassia Ling

Lee Sun-Kyun was found immobile in his car in central Seoul Park. His family has been perturbed after he left a suicide note and left home in the wee hours of Wednesday, where they had lodged a case for a police forage.

Recently, Lee was involved in illegal drug abuse. He repudiated, claiming he was blackmailed and held ransom, to a cosmic total of a handful hundred thousand dollars. According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, the police had interrogated Lee for alleged use of marijuana and other drugs thrice last Saturday in the home of a hostess from an aristocratic bar. He professed that he had been double-crossed and perplexed to what he said.

In 2020, Parasite had clinched four Academy Award accolades, for best picture, director for Bong Joon-ho, original screenplay and international feature film for South Korea. During the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, the project has also swept away the Palme d’Or, establishing itself as the first South Korean film to do so and garnering international reverence. The “Parasite” cast including Lee has also claimed a Screen Actors Guild award for its remarkable screenplay by a cast in motion picture.

In the esteemed film, Lee portrays as a tycoon and father of the affluent Park family, who inadvertently hires a subservient family of four to be in their service, as they leech onto the family’s luxury for their own benefit. After their ruse came to light, Kim Ki-taek kills Mr Park in a fit of pique.

After Lee’s recognition in Parasite, he was casted in AppleTV’s series Dr. Brain, and was nominated best actor at the high-standing 2022 International Emmy Awards. During his acting trajectory, he was also featured in other films, Payback, Diary of a Prosecutor, My Mister, Killing Romance, and Kingmaker.
