The transformation brings an expansive content catalogue, increased personalisation features, and an enhanced user interface, aligning with the U.S. transition from HBO Max. By: Wee Yan Ling
Warner
Bros. Discovery rebranding of HBO Max to Max took effect last May in the U.S.
and is extending its reach to Latin America and the Caribbean. The media
conglomerate has announced that the conversion will take effect from February
27th and is making it the inaugural international region to experience the new
and improved platform.
Max
in Latin America will present a sizable streaming catalogue with more than
37,000 hours of content. This is twice the amount of the current offerings on
HBO Max in the region. Warner Bros. Discovery is mirroring the U.S. rollout as
it positions Max as a more robust and reliable platform with enhanced
personalisation features and an improved user interface.
Content
on Max will derive from the portfolio of networks Warner Bros. Discovery
possess which is inclusive of HBO, Warner Bros., DC Universe, Discovery and
many more. The streaming service will also hold first-window streaming rights
for films from renowned studios such as Sony Pictures and NBCUniversal. Live
programming will be featured from the Award’s Season and live sporting events
in certain countries, exhibiting local original productions developed with
Latin American creators.
The
Latin America version of Max will present three tiers for the subscription
plans — Basic with Ads, Standard, and Premium. Each tier offers monthly and
discounted annual payment options. The current HBO Max subscribers in the
region will be able to transition to Max on February 27th with their existing
plans, features and pricing for a limited time.
The
evolution of Max ensures a seamless flow of integration for the subscribers as
they are able to keep their profiles, settings and viewing history. As for the
application, it will be automatically updated on February 27th whereas others
will receive prompts to download the latest version when accessing HBO Max on
certain devices or operating systems.
