Avengers and Kraven the Hunter Star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been Formally Offered Role of the next James Bond

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played Pietro Maximoff / Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), is rumoured to have been offered the role of the next James Bond. By: Kritchanon Tan Kian Wei.

UK - Following English actor Daniel Craig’s exit from the role in No Time to Die (2021), fellow English actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly been formally offered the role of James Bond in the upcoming 26th instalment of the James Bond / 007 film franchise by Eon Productions that remains officially unannounced.

The Golden Globe winner is best known for playing the lead in Kick-Ass (2010) and its 2013 sequel, along with the role of Pietro Maximoff / Quicksilver, primarily in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).

Early last year, reports surfaced that Taylor-Johnson was in the running for the iconic role alongside other famous actors, including Cillian Murphy [best known for playing the lead in Oppenheimer (2023)] and Henry Cavill [best known for playing Clark Kent / Superman in the now-cancelled DC Extended Universe]. However, it now seems likely that Taylor-Johnson will be the one to continue the character’s legacy.

After online discussion on the possibility of Taylor-Johnson taking up the role, the 33-year-old recently told Numero magazine that he found it “charming and wonderful that people see [him] in that role.”

In October 2023, James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli told The Guardian: “I think these movies reflect the time they are in, and there’s a big road ahead reinventing [James Bond] for the next chapter and we haven’t even begun with that.”

In the meantime, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is next slated to star in The Fall Guy, an action comedy set to be released on 3 May 2024. More prominently, Taylor-Johnson is also set to play the titular character in Kraven the Hunter, a Columbia Pictures film produced in association with Marvel, based on the fan-favourite Spider-Man villain. The R-rated film is currently scheduled to be released on 30 August 2024 in the US.
