Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) Breaks Streaming Records on Disney+

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) lands on a history book page by becoming the #1 music film on Disney+. By: Kritchanon Tan Kian Wei.

US - Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) has broken Disney+ streaming records, officially becoming the #1 music film ever on the platform, with 4.6 million views and 16.2 million hours streamed over the Disney+ opening weekend of the three-and-a-half hour blockbuster that previously broke the record for highest grossing concert film with its 168-minute theatrical cut. The film premiered on Disney+ on Thursday March 14 at 6pm PT (Friday March 15 at 9am in Singapore).

The news comes after The Walt Disney Company reportedly paid over US$75 million for streaming rights to the immensely popular musical documentary, in a bidding war which also involved Netflix and Universal Pictures.

In a statement released by the company, The Walt Disney Company said the following:

“Disney+ is the only place to watch the show in its entirety for the first time — complete with songs only seen before at live concerts. Taylor Swift fans were able to see the performances of new songs such as cardigan as well as four additional acoustic songs: Maroon, Death by a Thousand Cuts, You Are in Love, and I Can See You.”

Though unclear what the previous record holder was, other music films available on Disney+ include “Elton John: Farewell from Dodger Stadium,”
Black Is King: A Film by Beyoncé,” “The Beatles: Get Back”, “BTS: Permission to Dance On Stage - LA,” “Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u,” Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles,” and Swift’s own “folklore: the long pond studio sessions” among other programmes.

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) is now streaming on Disney+. Additionally, Taylor Swift’s next album, The Tortured Poets Department, is set to be released on April 19th.
