5 Best K-Pop Movies and Series to Check Out!

With the release of SUGA | Agust D TOUR ‘D-DAY’ THE MOVIE and the upcoming worldwide release of aespa: World Tour in cinemas, K-pop fans have plenty of reasons to head to the movie theatre this April. But if you prefer to stay home, here are some K-pop films and series you should check out!


1. IU CONCERT: The Golden Hour (2023)


Singer-songwriter and K-drama actress Lee Ji-eun, better known by her stage name IU, may not be a household name worldwide, but there is no denying that IU has enchanted Korean audiences for the last 16 years with her remarkable talent and songs like Good Day, Blueming and Lilac.


This concert film documents IU’s grand, sold-out 2022 concert The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun held at the Seoul Olympic Stadium. With 2 hours and 51 minutes of magic, featuring countless performances, a drone show, fireworks and a real hot-air balloon taking flight, this is a show you do not want to miss.


2. LE SSERAFIM Documentary ‘The World Is My Oyster’ (2022)


One of the hottest K-pop groups right now, LE SSERAFIM recently wowed fans with their performances at Coachella 2024 and the Seoul stop of IU’s ongoing H.E.R. World Tour, delivering hit after hit with songs like Smart, Perfect Night and Eve, Psyche & the Bluebeard’s wife.


If you haven’t already, now is a great time to check out this free 4-part docuseries available on YouTube, which details the journeys of Sakura, Chaewon, Yunjin, Kazuha and Eunchae leading up to their first extended play, FEARLESS.

3. BLACKPINK The Movie (2021)


Part-documentary and part-concert film, BLACKPINK The Movie features interviews with Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa, alongside live performances from their 2019 In Your Area World Tour and 2021 COVID-era online concert The Show.


With a brief 99-minute runtime, this film is the perfect way for new fans of K-pop to familiarise themselves with one of the biggest music groups of all time and catch up with most of the group’s iconic hits, like Kill This Love, How You Like That and DDU-DU DDU-DU.


4. BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star (2023-2024)


Taking us through the first 10 years of the legendary music act, BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star showcases the talents and stories of RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook, reflecting on the group’s experiences and legacy as they go into hiatus.


If you’re a fan of BTS, or simply want to learn more about the group, this 8-part docuseries is a must-watch.


5. BTS: Permission to Dance On Stage – LA (2022)


Documenting one of BTS’ last shows before their 2022 hiatus, this concert film features many of BTS classics like Spring Day, Dope and Fire, along with newer worldwide favourites like Boy With Luv, On and Dynamite.


With BTS: Permission to Dance On Stage – LA, fans and newcomers alike can familiarise themselves with plenty of BTS’ most iconic hits, as the world eagerly anticipates their reunion in 2025.
