NBCUniversal Studio Group Appoints Liz Jenkins as Chief Business Officer

Liz Jenkins, former Chief Operating Officer at Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, has been named the Chief Business Officer at NBCUniversal Studio Group. By: Theng Min Yee

Jenkin’s appointment marks the first significant hire under the leadership of Donna Langley, who took on the roles of Chairman of NBCUniversal Studio Group and Chief Content Officer in July, succeeding former TV and streaming chief Susan Rovner.

In her newly established position, Jenkins will collaborate with Langley's executive team to develop strategies that leverage market opportunities and navigate challenges in the media industry. She will also oversee long-term business planning in alignment with NBCUniversal’s broader content strategy for its studio divisions. Jenkins is set to assume her role later this month, reporting directly to Langley.

Jenkins' tenure at Hello Sunshine began in 2018 when she joined as the Chief Financial Officer. In 2021, she was promoted to Chief Operating Officer, where she was responsible for finance, business affairs, operations, physical production, and music. Notably, Jenkins played a key role in the acquisition of SKR Productions and the home lifestyle brand, The Home Edit, as well as the subsequent sale of Hello Sunshine to Candle Media in 2021. Her previous experiences also include serving as the Head of Strategic Ventures for Sony PlayStation.

Donna Langley expressed her confidence in Jenkins, emphasising her deep comprehension of the intricacies within the industry. Langley highlighted Jenkins' knack for innovation and her capability to build, be it brands, individual projects, or cultures. As the Studio Group continues to adapt to the evolving industry landscape, Jenkins is expected to be an invaluable asset to Langley and the broader NBCUniversal team.

Jenkins herself acknowledged the current dynamic and disrupted nature of the media space. She expressed eagerness to apply her independent industry experience to the more interconnected, multi-platform environment that Langley and her team are cultivating at NBCUniversal Studio Group.

In related promotions, Peter Levinsohn, previously Vice-Chairman and Chief Distribution Officer for Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, has been elevated to the role of Chairman of Global Distribution for the studio group. Additionally, Jimmy Horowitz has been promoted to Chairman, NBCUniversal Business Affairs and Operations.
