According to the Coroner’s Office, the cause of his death was deemed an “acute intoxication due to combined effects of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and benzodiazepines”.
News of his passing emerged on 31st July, when Oakland police officers received an emergency call. Cloud was confirmed to have died at their family home in Oakland, California.
He was noted to be dealing with his father’s death a week before, as he “intensely struggled with the loss”.
Cloud’s family revealed in a public statement, “The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”
Cloud grew in popularity with his first Hollywood role in HBO’s Euphoria as an endearing drug dealer named Fez, for two seasons. He also featured in movies The Line and North Hollywood, along with music videos such as Noah Cyrus’ “All Three”, “Cigarettes” by Juice Wrld, and Karol G and Becky G’s “Mamiii”.
He was supposedly set to be a recurring character in Euphoria’s third season, yet to begin production. “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud,” HBO issued in a statement. “He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”
