MIPDRAMA 2024: Global Stage Opens for High-End Drama Series Entries

Serving as a standalone screening event on April 7, the annual showcase provides a unique platform for international buyers to preview early-stage, high-end drama series. By: Wee Yan Ling

MIPDRAMA has formed the bedrock for the scripted TV landscape as it offers a sneak-peak into the future of global drama. The event is set in the iconic Hi5 Theatre of the Palais des Festivals and will feature 10 exclusive, in-production previews (of up to 15 minutes) of jury-selected series. Attending acquisition executives and commissioners invited to vote for their 'Coup de Coeur' and the winner revealed on the day.

The criteria for eligibility call for the scripted projects to be fully financed, in production of their debut series and yet to be presented at a festival or market. The call for entries is open until February 5, 2024. The previous editions have drawn entries from more than 20 countries.

The 2024 MIPTV pre-opening weekend will take place on 6 and 7 April and will extend beyond MIPDRAMA to include MIPDOC and MIPFORMATS strands, creating the ‘biggest weekend in Unscripted’ in Cannes with the gathering of the documentary, factual and format communities ahead of the market with two days of networking, screening, showcases and deals.
