Upcoming Scream 7 is making weaves for the unexpected twists not in the movie, but behind the scenes. Fans are thrilled to learn about the confirmed development of a seventh film in August after the blockbuster success of Scream VI as it dominated the box office in its opening weekend in March.
Producer Paul Neinstein expressed the team's commitment, saying, "We will continue to make these as long as they let us," and co-writer James Vanderbilt echoed the sentiment, saying, "Absolutely! It would be amazing to do this again."
The journey for Scream 7 has hit a roadblock with reports of cast members dropping out. Melissa Barrera would no longer be part of the film as she had released controversial social media posts in relation to the Israel-Hamas war and was described as antisemitic.
Spyglass, the studio behind Scream 7, issued a statement stating, "Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form."
Following Barrera’s departure, Jenna Ortega is exiting the film due to her busy filming schedule which includes Netflix’s Wednesday and the completion for filming Beetlejuice 2.
The official cast for Scream 7 remains unclear but there has been high anticipation for Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown to reprise their roles.
The release for Scream 7 remains uncertain and fans are waiting in anticipation for a possible late 2024 or early 2025 release for the next chapter of the iconic horror franchise.
