The untitled docuseries, produced by Category 6 Media, will document her days leading to the December 28, 2023 release, exploring her experiences living with her husband, Ryan Anderson, and the challenges of navigating newfound freedom amidst notoriety. By: Wee Yan Ling
Built
upon the success of its January documentary, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy
Rose Blanchard, Lifetime will be launching a new unscripted docuseries to
capture the post-prison journey of Gypsy Rose Blanchard. The series has
received the greenlight to air later in the year.
The
docuseries picks up Gypsy’s story days before her release on 28 December 2023,
after serving 8 ½ years of a 10-year sentence. She was convicted of persuading
her boyfriend to murder her mother, Dee Dee who put her under years of false
medical conditions. The show will share her life with her husband Ryan Anderson
as it marks the first time they live together. It will be chronicling the
reconciliation of the attention her case gained and include other nonfiction
programs and Hulu’s drama series, The Act.
The
preceding documentary, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard had
amassed a significant viewership for Lifetime as it averages 1.1 million views
with three days of delayed viewing. It was also reported that roughly 9.9
million people have engaged with the three-part documentary across Lifetime’s
linear and streaming platforms.
