‘Shogun’, ‘The Bear’ dominate 76th Emmy Awards.

US - The 76th Emmy Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 15, 2024, saw FX’s Shōgun and The Bear dominate the night. Shōgun, an epic series set in 17th-century feudal Japan, broke records by winning 18 awards, including Outstanding Drama Series. Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai took home the awards for Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Drama Series, respectively, while Frederick E.O. Toye won for directing.

The Bear, a comedy series also from FX, continued its winning streak by securing 11 awards, surpassing its previous record. Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach repeated their wins for Lead Actor and Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, respectively. Liza Colón-Zayas won her first Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

In a surprising turn, Hacks won Outstanding Comedy Series, upsetting The Bear. Netflix’s Baby Reindeer also had a strong showing, winning six awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.

The night highlighted the strength of FX’s programming and the growing influence of international and diverse storytelling in television. With record-breaking wins and unexpected upsets, the 76th Emmy Awards were a memorable celebration of television excellence.
