Warner Bros collaborated with ‘Wuthering Heights’ star Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap on ‘Barbie’ last year.
Warner Bros. has secured the global rights to Emerald
Fennell’s highly anticipated adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel, Wuthering
Heights. The studio won a fierce bidding war against major competitors,
including Netflix, by committing to a global theatrical release. This decision
aligns with Fennell’s vision for the film, emphasizing the importance of the
theatrical experience.
The film will star Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi,
with Robbie also producing through her company, LuckyChap Entertainment.
Fennell, known for her Oscar-winning work on Promising Young Woman, will
write, direct, and produce the adaptation. This project marks the second
collaboration between Fennell and Robbie, following their work on Barbie and
Saltburn.
Warner Bros. executives Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy
expressed their excitement about the partnership, highlighting Fennell’s unique
vision and the stellar cast. MRC, the film’s financier, also praised Fennell’s
approach to capturing the novel’s emotional depth and aesthetic beauty.
This adaptation of Wuthering Heights promises
to bring a fresh perspective to the timeless tale of love and revenge, with
Fennell’s distinctive style and the star power of Robbie and Elordi set to
captivate audiences worldwide.
