Academy for VFX in Ireland

VFX Ireland is a trade association that represents Ireland’s VFX studios; EGG VFX, Element VFX, Outer Limits, Piranha Bar, SSVFX and Windmill Lane. Each of our member studios have an established track record for delivering award-winning VFX work, with credits and awards in a wide range of genres, in episodic drama series and feature films. Screen Ireland is expanding its National Talent Academy Network to include a National Talent Academy for VFX. This initiative aims to attract more Irish talent to the rapidly growing visual effects (VFX) sector. Notably, Ireland’s VFX studios have contributed to major productions such as Marvel Studios’ WandaVision and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Netflix’s The Irishman, and HBO’s Game of Thrones.

The new academy will address skills needs within the VFX industry and create opportunities for new entrants from diverse backgrounds. The Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet (CCIS) has been appointed to lead the establishment of this academy, collaborating with regional partners, community groups, industry bodies, and other entities. This expansion complements the existing National Talent Academy network, which includes academies for film and TV as well as animation.

This move reflects Ireland’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering growth in the VFX and post-production sector. As the industry continues to evolve, initiatives like this will play a crucial role in developing skilled professionals and ensuring Ireland remains a hub for creative excellence.
