Korea’s Hero Inside Premiers in Spain on Boing
Hero Inside expands into the Spanish channel Boing following a successful premier. There are plans to continue the expansion, and the second season is expected to air in the last quarter of 2024. By Ching Wai.
Spain - Hero Inside aired on 11 March in Spain on the free-to-air children’s TV channel Boing, and will be available on the free Boing App as well.. The Korean animation blockbuster has premiered in several countries since January this year, and while it has already aired in Spain on HBO Max as well in February, the expansion into the free children’s TV channel will allow it to gain more exposure and increase its viewership.
The animated blockbuster was a collaborative effort between CJ ENM and Million Volt Animation Studios from South Korea, Tencent Video from China and YGG Global Limited from Thailand. For the series, DeAPlaneta Entertainment based in Spain and representing the brand across Europe and Latin America, serves as Master Licensing Agent and Media & Digital Distribution Partner of Warner Bros. Discovery, which has the global broadcasting rights of the series. Such a global collaboration and successful international reach makes it ideal for Warner Bros. Discovery to continue to expand and release Hero Inside to a greater audience of a wider age range.
International success has been recorded for season one, which has eleven episodes, after having been premiered in Europe, Northern Europe, the CEE countries, Africa, and the Middle East. The successful premier last November in Latin America through Cartoon Network and HBO Max resulted in it being ranked fifth in the VOD platform in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. Discover commissioned the first two seasons and plans to broadcast Hero Inside across multiple Latin American countries in 2024. The second season will reportedly premiere in the last quarter of 2024.
The series combines genres of adventure, humour and action, and may come off as flippant towards the classic superheroic universe. Hero Inside boasts amazing animation and relatable yet distinctive characters who can transform their flaws into superpowers, turning their weaknesses into strengths. With such a high quality production, it is no wonder that the Korean animated series achieved and is still continuing to achieve global success. Following this, the upcoming premier of season two comes with expectations of equal or even greater success.
