France - The Americas is a ten-part Natural History event series that will premiere on NBC in 2025. As announced by MIPTV, the series will be previewed at the MIPTV Spring International Television Market in Cannes, which will take place from 8-10 April this year. The preview session, titled The Americas: Worldwide Preview and Fireside Chat, will take place at 11am on Tuesday 9 April in the Palais des Festivals, on the second day of the three-day MIPTV co-production and content market. A first-look footage and behind-the-scenes insights will be revealed.
The highly anticipated series used groundbreaking filmmaking technology to present stories of the wonders, secrets and fragilities of wildlife in Earth’s largest landmass (spanning 8700 miles or about 14 000 km). The series also boasts a strong cast and crew. Toby Gorman, the President of Universal Television Alternative Studio, Emmy and BAFTA award-winning Executive Producer Mike Gunton, and Emmy nominated Series Editor Holly Spearing are some who worked on the series. They will participate in its preview.
Acclaimed actor, producer and writer Tom Hanks narrated for the first time for this unscripted entertainment series. Two-time Oscar winner Hans Zimmer contributed to the series’ the music. The series is executive produced by Mike Gunton for BBC Studios Natural History Unit, and in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handled the distribution.
The MIPTV Spring International Television Market will see over 130 exhibitors, joining producers and buyers from an expected 80 countries. Keynotes, exclusive analysis and future facing MIPLAB tracks will also be featured. The MIPLAB tracks will focus on key areas including Finance, AI and FAST (with the MIP GLOBAL FAST & AVOD Summit). The International Series Festival CANNESERIES will run alongside MIPTV from 5-10 April.
