Eccho Rights to Bring New Turkish Drama Behind the Veil to MIPTV

Behind the Veil joins the Stockholm-based drama series distributor Eccho Rights’ MIPTV 2024 lineup. By: Kritchanon Tan Kian Wei

Sweden - Swedish media company Eccho Rights have acquired the distribution rights for Behind the Veil, a brand new Turkish drama series from Kanal 7 and Film Yapim Merkezi (FYM) ahead of the 2024 MIPTV event.

Directed by Taner Tunç and starring Talya Çelebi and Cenay Türksever, Behind the Veil, which currently airs twice a week in Turkey, sees problems arising after a young woman named Hançer enters a marriage of convenience with a wealthy bachelor after her only family member, older brother Cemil, falls ill and needs treatment. This is the latest collaboration between the drama series distributor and Kanal 7, following a string of hits like Elif, The Promise, and Winds of Love that have put the Turkish broadcaster on the international map. These titles have scored great TV ratings and went on to secure licences worldwide.

Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights, said the following: “To bring this new title to the market in partnership with Kanal 7 is an exciting step for us, having enjoyed such mutual success with their original productions over the past decade. Behind the Veil is another example of a commission that understands the demands of a global audience but brings a unique take on telling that classic, romantic story.”

Eccho Rights will be at MIPTV 2024, held in Cannes from April 8 to 10 2024.
